About Winery and Wines
Château d'Osmond is a historic 10-hectare estate, dating back 250 years. The dedicated team of five welcomes visitors to discover the life of a winegrower, with insights into working the vines, the winemaking process, aging in barrels, and a final wine tasting experience.
Situated in the heart of the Médoc, in Cissac, near the renowned towns of Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe, Château d'Osmond has been flourishing since 1987. The estate benefits from the knowledge of experienced winegrowers who planted some of the oldest plots, over 50 years old, along with the vitality of younger vines. The vineyard currently covers eight hectares, with an average vine age of 37 years.
Narrow-row plantations at Château d'Osmond ensure low yields per vine, which in turn contributes to superior wine quality. With vine density ranging between 7,000 and 11,000 vines per hectare, sustainable practices are employed, including integrated methods for disease and pest control. For over two decades, soil management and vineyard protection have followed the principles of sustainable production. In 2007, a comprehensive environmental approach was implemented, covering waste management, water conservation, and energy efficiency.
The estate's main production, totaling 45,000 bottles, is a Haut-Médoc “Cru Artisan” currently in organic conversion since 2022, which has already earned 9 medals. Other notable wines include a historic 100% Petit Verdot vintage, an Amphore vintage introduced in 2022, and a Blanc de Noir vintage. The vineyard is characterized by sandy gravel terroir, with grape varieties consisting of 50% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 9% Petit Verdot. The estate covers 8 hectares, with an average vine age of 37 years, and the average annual production is 50,000 bottles.
