Domaine de Grimardy
About the Winery
The Domaine de Grimardy, a 10-hectare organic vineyard, is located on the superb Montravel terroir in Montazeau. We, Sophie DER MIKAELIAN and Gaël VALET, have found this location, surrounded by magnificent landscapes, to be an exceptional working environment for producing wines in harmony with the biodiversity present in these surroundings. Since 2021, we have been practising agroecology and agroforestry to protect the fauna, flora, and health of our customers. Our wines are therefore produced by independent artisan winemakers to be healthy and full of flavour.
About the Wines
The red grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, planted on clay-limestone soils with ostra, offer aromas and a wealth of vinification possibilities. The white grape varieties, Sauvignon and Sémillon, benefit from the carbonated clay and grey sand terroirs, which give the dry Montravel Blanc aged on lees an exceptional aromatic palette and make it a wine apart from other dry whites from the South-West.
Five ranges of wines with limited SO2 levels are currently produced at the estate:
- Montravel W&R: Exceptional wines associated with the unique terroir of Montaigne's homeland.
- Red Bergerac cuvée Nucléus: Fine Bergerac wine aged for at least 16 months.
- White or Red Bergerac: Fruity, structured and aromatic wines from the Bergerac appellation
- Bergerac Rosé: A highly aromatic wine made from Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes.
- IGP Périgord White and Red: Fruity, original and complex wines.
