Domaine Fritz Schmitt
About the Winery
Domaine Fritz-Schmitt traces its origins back to 1905, when the first litres of wine were produced by Mr. Grégoire Fritz.
In the 1950s, the estate came under the management of Mr. René Fritz, who continued the family tradition while further developing the vineyard.
In 1993, his daughter Catherine Fritz and her husband Bernard Schmitt took over the estate and founded Domaine Fritz-Schmitt. Over time, their children joined the family business one after another, strengthening the family spirit that defines the winery today.
The combination of these generations, personalities, and shared passion now allows the estate to produce authentic wines with strong character, reflecting both tradition and the unique identity of the terroir.
About the Wines
Our estate, located in Alsace, benefits from the rich history and gastronomy of this region, where wine plays an important role. More specifically, we are located in the commune of Ottrott, a pretty tourist and wine-growing village at the foot of Mont St-Odile, known in particular for its famous Ottrott red wine. The village, clinging to the hillside, stretches out for a long way.
The entire estate is spread over 75 plots. Our white grape varieties are planted in the neighboring communes of Ottrott for the production of our crémants and white wines. This diversity of locations allows us to benefit from certain plots with specific characteristics, such as the Affenberg and Ensberg vineyards.
