About Winery and Wines

For over a hundred years, Famille Denis has been dedicated to crafting terroir-driven wines in Cléré-sur-Layon, nestled in the southern Loire Valley. Generations of expertise, innovation, and a shared passion for the land have shaped the estate, maintaining its founding philosophy: a love of the land, meticulous craftsmanship, and the production of authentic wines with distinctive character.

Since the 1970s, direct sales have allowed the family to connect with clients, sharing their strong bond with the vines and the terroir. This dedication is reflected in every bottle, a testament to the family’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

Now in its fourth generation, Stéphane, Julien, and Vincent are continuing the family legacy while bringing fresh perspectives gained from their experiences at renowned vineyards in France, California, and Australia. Their collaboration has driven significant advancements, including the transformation of a former dairy into a state-of-the-art winery. This facility seamlessly blends traditional savoir-faire with modern techniques, elevating wine quality while respecting the vineyard’s biodiversity.

The estate spans 85 hectares and has been HVE (High Environmental Value) certified since 2018, underscoring a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. As the family writes the next chapter of their story, the wine estate remains a vibrant reflection of their heritage and ambition, producing wines that celebrate both tradition and innovation.

Careful selection of grape varieties tailored to each specific soil type, combined with meticulous monitoring of production and traditional winemaking expertise, enables Famille Denis to produce wines that capture the true essence of their appellations.

The estate is proud to craft some of the finest Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) wines in the Loire Valley, including Anjou, Rosé de Loire, Coteaux du Layon, and Crémant de Loire. Each wine reflects the unique character of the region, showcasing the dedication and passion behind every bottle.
