About Winery and Wines
Generazione Alessandro is the project of three cousins – Benedetto, Anna, and Benedetto – who, along with their fathers, have been running the family winery in the province of Palermo. Their passion for viticulture sprang at a young age from actively participating in the family grape harvests. Strengthened by years of honing a wide range of skills in their roles at the Alessandro di Camporeale company, the cousins decided to embark on a new endeavour on Etna, a territory with some of the most diverse viticultural features in the world, giving birth to wines with a unique and strong identity.
Generazione Alessandro is rooted in the heart of Sicily’s most iconic wine territory—Etna, the island's first Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC), established in 1968. The estate's ten hectares are entirely situated within the Etna DOC production area, specifically on the northeastern slope of the volcano, where the dynamic landscape offers a rich mosaic of terroirs. The four vineyards, although nearby, present distinct geomorphological and microclimatic features that deeply influence grape development and expression. At the center of the estate lies the antique winery, home to the modern vinification cellar.
Among Generazione Alessandro’s vineyard holdings, Contrada Palmellata in Castiglione di Sicilia, acquired in 2015, stands out for its balanced division into two viticultural zones: the eastern section, enriched with red pumice stone and optimal sun exposure, is ideal for red varieties like Nerello Mascalese; while the western part, shaded and composed of deep volcanic sands, provides a perfect setting for white varieties such as Carricante and Catarratto.
Contrada Borriglione, located in Linguaglossa, features two hectares of terraced Nerello Mascalese vineyards adjacent to a striking red pumice stone quarry, with the estate’s historic winery at its core. Sciaramanica, shaped like a natural amphitheatre, is bordered by traditional dry-stone walls and planted with mature, mixed-variety vines. Grasà, also in Castiglione di Sicilia, extends over three hectares and is defined by a central area of rich volcanic sands surrounded by breezy, rocky terraces, adding further complexity to the estate’s viticultural diversity.
Generazione Alessandro produces four distinctive Etna DOC wines that capture the character of each vineyard: Trainara Etna Bianco DOC, Vignazza Etna Rosato DOC, Croceferro Etna Rosso DOC, and Sciaramanica Vigna Vecchia Etna Rosso DOC. Each label is a pure reflection of the volcanic terroir and the estate’s commitment to showcasing the depth, elegance, and identity of Etna’s native grape varieties.
