About Winery and Wines

Located 45 minutes from the medieval city of Siena, La Canonica winery and farmhouse offers an idyllic setting in the Val d'Orcia, on the border of the Crete Senesi. It’s a perfect location for those who love to relax in the stunning Tuscan countryside, with opportunities for horseback riding, cycling, hiking, and visits to nearby villages like Montalcino, Pienza, San Quirico D'Orcia, and Montepulciano.

La Canonica is a 17th-century farmhouse, almost unique in its construction from travertine blocks. Its name reflects its history as a former church property, once home to nuns of the Order of San Bernardino in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It later became the property of a wealthy landowning family who lived in the nearby Castelverdelli until 1958, when Orfeo and Diana acquired it.

Today, the estate is lovingly managed by their daughters, Donella and Serenella, who strive to maintain a warm, family-friendly environment for all who visit. If you love nature, the Tuscan hills, good food, and fine wine, La Canonica is a must-visit destination.
