Luteraia

Winery in Montepulciano, Valdichiana

About the Winery

Luteraia is located in Montepulciano, in the heart of Tuscany. A magical Vineyard, where no less than five different soils, now fat, then stony, now "cooper" sulfurous, then clay and sandy give life to our natural, indigo, and biodynamic wines..

Three generations of Paolinis have their roots here. Grandfather Marino, my father Sergio, and now me, Andrea, so that from the experience of each of us come the wines that represent us, Literaia, Losee', Luteraia, and Lemuria.

From the soil to the bottle, we make manifest what the vineyard gives us each year. Through our innovative "Indigo Philosophy" we ensure that each Indigo Wine is a message of love and wonder to anyone who tastes it.

About the Wines

Every aspect of the vineyard follows a holistic protocol of our conception, which aims to regenerate the best conditions of health, vitality and quality of the vines. Grandpa Marino gave birth to the first vineyard in 1957, then Sergio continued with the second in 1993 and his son Andrea planted the third in 2003.

Vines of native Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Mammolo, white Malvasia, Trebbiano and Merlot live harmoniously on this hill dedicated to the wine of our Luteraia. The terroir is composed of a precious mixture of clay and tuff with fine skeletal sediments, now fat and fertile, stony and then clayey, in short, a whole combination of wonderful qualities in a small plot of land.

Wine tasting with a family feel and great food
As a wine drinker, I have never drunk such great wines before!
The wine tasting was in a cozy atmosphere, at the host's home.
The Italian mama always served the matching dish with the wines.
Of course, all homemade.
Since everything is in the German language, everyone can easily follow Andrea's explanations.
A must for every wine lover!
Bravo Andrea, keep it up!
The magic wine - an absolute highlight!

FANTASTIC
The owner is very kind, super welcoming.
Perfect even for someone who, like me, knows nothing at all about wine.
He makes you feel at ease and, above all, he makes you feel at home.
We will be backkkkkkkk

Highly recommended experience!
If you are in Montepulciano, a visit with a sensory tasting at the Luteraia winery is an absolute must: the philosophy behind the fermentation of their wines (which are delicious, by the way) with the help of natural crystals is absolutely interesting.
Giulio was an extremely kind guide who catapulted us into a completely new world (at least for me) and who made himself available to answer all our questions.
A highly recommended experience if you want to discover something original and new!
I fell in love with the Lemuria sensory indigo wine as it changes depending on the food it accompanies and adapts perfectly to everything.
I'm happy I brought it home with me!

Different from the usual
The visit was brief because it's small and everything is close by. Andrea was a good guide and during the tasting we had good impressions, since he uses crystals for the wine's fermentation and the tasting is different from the usual. We had a good time with him, Andrea is a very particular guy.

Excellent experience
I have been fortunate enough to do wine tastings around the world, Chile, Australia, Portugal, France and Napa to name a few. This experience ranks among the best. It is because of Andrea, our host. Passionate, engaging, funny and committed to ensuring you get the most out of your visit. While a small vineyard, their wines are exceptional and their story is utterly fascinating. The personalization of your experience is something you won't soon forget. One note: Winedering did not mention is that you can dine there as well, so make sure you reserve that as well. Enjoy!

Hi Mark,

thank you so much for these words — coming from someone who has experienced wine around the world, this really means a lot to me.

I’m really happy you felt the passion and the personal side of what I try to create here. Luteraia is small, but that’s exactly what allows me to give each guest something real and memorable.

And yes… the dining part is our “hidden gem”

Exceptional experience
Andreas was charming. The tour went super well, he showed us the vineyards and then where they produce the wine, all of this accompanied by a conversation and a wonderful explanation from Andreas.
Then we did the sensory tasting and it was spectacular. You can tell the wine is high-quality. Also, we tried a wine that goes with any food and he proved it to us by having us try many things while we drank the wine and, even though the food was strong, bitter… the wine kept its flavor! It was spectacular.

On another note, we got along very well with Andreas and had a long conversation. He took great care of us and, what's more, it was just my partner and me! In other words, we did the tasting alone and that was wonderful.

Worth the drive from Firenze for this fantastic experience!
We attended the vineyard for a sensory tasting hosted by Andrea. It was amazing. He shared the history his passion and of course the beautiful wines. I visited with my husband 2 more family and we met a wonderful group of 2 couples from the USA. Andrea encouraged us to 'chat' and share our thoughts on the wines which was a lovely idea.
We ordered a selection of rosè and red that we had tasted and just couldn't resist.

Fantastic sensory experience
Thanks to the sensory tasting, I had the opportunity to discover other ways of savoring and experiencing the concept of drinking the "indigo wine" together.
An atypical experience that I recommend.

Unique
As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by Andrea who immediately made us feel at home. We begin the tasting, we taste his wines and listen to his story; to call it a tasting is an understatement, it's an experience that digs into the soul of those who taste those wines, they are special just as special is Andrea who puts his soul into everything he does.
