Ritas Wine tasting

Rita's wine tasting tour was very interesting and entertaining. The wine tasting itself was very knowledgeable, and the wines were excellent. For me, four wines were the best.
The DIN was first-class, and so was the oil. Overall, it was a successful, entertaining, and wonderful experience with Rita, wine, gin, and oil. Best regards Anton und Svetlana
Maybe they should have done it the other way around. First visit the factory, then drive out and do the wine tasting outside.

Esperienza meravigliosa

Rate: 5 out of 5 8/1/25

About Winery and Wines

Masseria Borgo dei Trulli is an agricultural estate established in some of the finest wine-growing areas of Salento, particularly in Sava, Manduria, and Maruggio in the province of Taranto, where it cultivates Primitivo, Negroamaro, Vermentino, Malvasia Bianca, Fiano, and Sauvignon Blanc. In Guagnano, in the province of Lecce, vineyards are dedicated to Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera for the Salice Salentino DOC.

An ancient masseria surrounded by vineyards was chosen as the ideal location for the winery, ensuring that the grapes are vinified close to where they are grown. The modern facility, situated in the Roselle district of Maruggio, lies just 5 km from the Ionian Sea and sits in the heart of the Primitivo di Manduria DOP. The estate takes its name from the region’s distinctive trulli saraceni, scattered across the landscape. In Puglia, the term masseria refers to the central rural building where agricultural products are processed and stored.

Designed to harmonize with the surrounding environment, the winery was built beside a carefully restored historic masseria. The contrast between state-of-the-art winemaking technology and the traditional tufo stone structure, once used as an animal shelter, highlights the fusion of innovation and heritage. The arched and star-vaulted ceilings reflect the region’s architectural identity, creating a space where the work in the vineyards and cellar seamlessly connects with the pleasure of tasting fine wines.

Behind every great wine lies exceptional grapes, dedicated work, and deep passion. The estate’s vineyards are located in three key areas: Roselle, Pasano, and Salice Salentino, known for their fertile, sun-drenched soils, which provide the ideal conditions for vine growth and grape ripening.

Viticulture follows organic farming principles, using only biological products to preserve the balance of nature and enhance the authentic expression of the terroir. This commitment ensures that each wine reflects the richness and character of Salento, from the bold reds of Primitivo and Negroamaro to the refined whites of Vermentino and Fiano.
