Montalto Vineyard & Olive Grove
About the Winery
Montalto is a family-owned estate located on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia, where wine, food, and agriculture are deeply interconnected. The property spans 30 acres of vineyards, complemented by kitchen gardens, orchards, and around 1,500 olive trees that supply the estate’s kitchens. The philosophy of Montalto is centered on growing, sharing, and celebrating produce, creating a complete farm-to-table experience.
The Mornington Peninsula offers ideal conditions for viticulture, thanks to its mild maritime climate and unique topography. Surrounded by water on three sides, the region benefits from cooling influences that support slow and even grape ripening. Nestled among vineyards, orchards, and olive groves, Montalto is part of a vibrant wine region known for its high-quality, cool-climate wines.
About the Wines
Montalto produces wines across three distinct labels, crafted by an experienced winemaking team led by Simon Black, with vineyards managed by Dan Prior. The focus is on expressing the character of each vineyard site, using techniques that enhance the natural qualities of the grapes.
The estate specializes in cool-climate varieties, particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which thrive in the Mornington Peninsula’s conditions. The wines are known for their elegance, balance, and site-driven expression, reflecting both the coastal influence and the diversity of the terroir.
Each label represents a different interpretation of the estate’s vineyards, showcasing a commitment to quality, precision, and a deep respect for the land.
