About Winery and Wines

Poggio San Polo is one of the most innovative and experimental realities of Montalcino, born from the desire to preserve a passion handed down from generation to generation, but always with an eye to the future. Largely underground and entirely inspired by the principles of eco-sustainability, bio-architecture and social responsibility, the winery blends perfectly with the surrounding landscape. The same philosophy applies to every stage of the production process, which focuses on quality while minimising environmental impact: from the vineyards to the winemaking process, from the bottling process to the packaging, everything is geared towards respecting nature and the consumer. For this reason, San Polo received CasaClima Wine certification in 2013, a seal of quality created to make the efforts made by wineries towards greater sustainability quantifiable and communicable. Since January 2014, it has also adopted the organic viticulture protocol, which led the winery to obtain organic certification in 2017.

The vineyards of Poggio San Polo cover an area of 16 hectares, 8 of which are dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. The vines are exposed to the south and south-west at an altitude of 450 metres in a constantly ventilated area, which allows them to avoid fog and frost, guaranteeing optimal ripening of the grapes. In such a favourable terroir the San Polo wines are born, true excellences of the Montalcino panorama. The Brunellos are the house's most representative reds, characterised by a noble, powerful and deep profile. The other production is dedicated to simpler reds, such as the Rossi di Montalcino, younger and fresher expressions, but nevertheless capable of photographing these splendid lands and rendering them with character and intensity in every sip.
