About Winery and Wines
Terra Di Rovo is born from the strong bond that has always linked me to my land - The Spoletino in Umbria - an extraordinary landscape of uncontaminated and wild nature, made fashinating by its variegated biodiversity.
A small plot of land of 3 hectars: a quiet and green-shrouded place that excites and at the same time surprises, where I dedciate myself to the production of Natural Wines of Umbria.
I am dedicated to the creation of minimal intervention wines from sustainably frown grapes, allowing the biodiversity of our vineyard to play its natural role. Respecting the law of nature, our harvest and the winamaking process follow the lunar calendar.
The resault is an authentic unfiltered natural wine with spontaneous fermantation and nothing added. Each year the vineyard - composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Trebbiano Spoletino vines -are left free to express themself and gift what most wonderful varietis they can produce.
The Single Vineyard of 1.2 hectars is located at 350 m above the sea level, south explosion, half of the vineyard is Trebbiano Spoletino - a local variety typical of Spoleto - and half of the vineyard is Cabernet Sauvignon - an international variety, a challenge that the wine producer wanted to take, in order to prove how strong is the impact of the terroir on the vines.
Terra Di Rovo Trebbiano Spoletino is made with 100% Trebbiano Spoletino DOC, this is an ancient native vine of the Spoletana valley, originally married to elms or maple trees, an ancient cultivation method that used the trees as support. The trees were meant to keep the grapes higher and away from animals, humidity, and morning fog. The grapes are characterised by big, long, and dense bunches, with a hook shape.
Terra Di Rovo Cabernet Sauvignon is made with 100% of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, a natural wine produced from a single-variety organic grapes and aged in still tanks. This wine was a real experiment that we wanted to do to demonstrate how an international variety such as Cabernet Sauvignon can become a completely territorial wine. The wine maker always loved this grape variety, but she always found it very difficult to understand it as unfortunately it is usually blended with other grapes like Sangiovese or Merlot. Moreover, usually the use or oak or wood barrels has a strong impact on the grapes and hides most of its organoleptic territorial characteristics.
The grapes bunches are extremely small and very well separated/distant from each other.
