Terra Grazia

Winery in Aegean Islands, Cyclades

About the Winery

Terra Grazia Estate is located in the village of Kato Sangri, one of the most fertile areas of Naxos, just 11 km from Chora. Set on a plateau at 350 meters above sea level, the estate benefits from an ideal microclimate for viticulture.

Rooted in the mountainous landscape of Naxos, Terra Grazia is guided by strong family values centered on respect for nature and people. With passion and dedication, the estate honors local traditions while contributing to the promotion of the island’s natural richness through high-quality products.

At the heart of the estate stands the impressive Della Rocca-Grazia Tower, a 13th-century Venetian fortress and one of the most important landmarks in the Sagri region. The tower features battlements, a distinctive dovecote, and surrounding structures, including a Venetian-style alley leading to a well and bakehouse, as well as the church of Agios Nikolaos of Tolentino.

Since 2004, Terra Grazia has been committed to restoring the tower and its annexes, with the aim of reviving the historic vineyard. The estate follows the principles of biodynamic agriculture, working in harmony with nature to produce wines that reflect the unique identity of Naxos and enrich its gastronomic heritage.

About the Wines

The vines are planted in traditional terraces, forming a low-trunk linear shape with dense planting along the line. The cultivation is entirely organic and follows the principles of the circular economy, utilizing all the by-products of the vineyard and winery as organic fertilizers. Additionally, the avoidance of chemical fertilizers and the absence of irrigation ensure the sustainable management of natural resources and biodiversity, minimizing carbon and water footprint.

The dominant variety is the iconic Assyrtiko, which in the environment of Naxos expresses a more “earthy” character of its unique aromatic profile, in a special blend with the white Aidani and the Monemvasia, two of the finest white varieties of the Cycladic vineyard. The red varieties are shared between the Fokiano, a variety with a particularly strong presence throughout the island, complemented ideally by the abundant Mavrotragano and the more “rebellious” Mandilaria.

At the same time, great effort is made for the rescue, propagation, planting, study, and promotion of local grape varieties in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, to gradually incorporate them into the winery’s product range.
