Terre des 2 Sources

The name of the village of Montoulieu, where the estate is located, derives from Monteolivo, the Mount of Olives, a reference to the olive trees on the hill overlooking Terre des 2 Sources. Since Roman times, vines have also taken root in these sun-drenched lands, nestled between the Cévennes mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.

This terroir, shaped by time and human hands, carries within it an ancient memory, that of a place where wine is much more than a product: a culture, a tradition, a passion.

In the 1960s, the Damais family revived the estate. Visionaries and deeply attached to this land, they planted the first improved grape varieties—Grenache and Syrah—and built one of the very first wineries in the region.

Half a century later, Hélène Taillefer's path crossed with two destinies that would transform her own. She met Glen and Kirsten Creasy, a New Zealand couple passionate about winemaking, with extensive international experience and driven by the dream of an adventure in the Languedoc region. Shortly after, another encounter profoundly affected her: that of the Damais family, with whom she discovered an unexpected connection—her own father and Marcel Damais had grown up in the same village on the other side of the Mediterranean, just after the Second World War.

From these two unique encounters, a bold project was born: to take over the estate and breathe new life into it. Thus, Terre des 2 Sources was born, a name that celebrates both the springs that irrigate the property and the human, cultural, and natural sources of inspiration that nourish each vintage.

After several years of dedication and passing on their knowledge, Glen and Kirsten chose to return to New Zealand to be closer to their family. The story continues today with the Taillefer family — Hélène, Rémi and their children — who are pursuing this adventure with passion, rooted in the past but resolutely turned towards the future.

Terre des 2 Sources' ambition is clear: to produce wines that reflect the full diversity of our terroir, with precision and sensitivity. Thanks to the richness of our land, we are fortunate to vinify under several appellations:

AOP Terrasses du Larzac for complex and balanced reds that express the freshness of the terroir;

AOP Languedoc for vibrant and authentic rosés and whites;

IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert for aromatic and bold red, white, and rosé wines.
