About Winery and Wines
Every great wine is characterized by its origin.
The soil on which the vines grow and thrive is decisive for the character of the wine. We have found these perfect conditions for ourselves and our wines in Bacharach. The winery, which the Bär family took over from Friedrich Bastian in 2021, looks back on a long tradition. It is proven that wine has been cultivated in Bacharach for 300 years. After taking over the winery as the Bär family in 2021, we were able to round off the winery from 4 ha to 20 ha by expanding the vineyards, over 90% of which is planted with Riesling.
Known as one of the most prestigious wine regions in Germany, the Middle Rhine Valley is a varied area with a long wine-growing tradition. For Riesling enthusiasts, an almost forgotten gem of German wine-growing culture.
Family-run, our winery is located in the middle of the small wine-growing region of the Middle Rhine. With a share of 90%, we mainly cultivate Riesling vineyards here. With our family winery, we are passionately committed to growing dry Rieslings of the highest quality. We do not aim to satisfy everyone but to pass on our fascination for Riesling.

These are the attributes we are striving for. The focus is on a clearly recognizable signature in taste, which is precisely reflected in the form of fruit, balance and especially freshness.
With our Rieslings, we want to express the unique character of the region. We care a lot about the history of Bacharacher Riesling, which we give a new expression with every bottle. We offer our Riesling in three quality levels. The estate wine, the Bacharacher and Orion local wines and the vineyard wines.
Due to the Mediterranean-style climate in Bacharach and the barren slate soil, our wines are extremely lean and integrate the acidity harmoniously. Our wines have a tight acid structure and a character typical of the terroir. They are characterized by good suitability for storage and longevity. They only go on sale after 2 years of bottle maturation.
