White Heron Estate

White Heron Estate is a 4th-generation working fruit farm in Herefordshire, producing cider apples, blackcurrants and now grapes. The estate has been growing fruit for years and years, but excitement has come with new vineyards. They planted a 35-acre vineyard during lockdown and completed their second harvest in 2024. The estate is set in the North of Herefordshire, only a couple of miles from the Welsh Border, amidst the rolling hills. The huge and gnarly oak table overlooking the vineyard is the perfect location for tastings, and off-grid dining after an E-Bike tour through blackcurrant plantations, cider apple orchards (stunning when in blossom), and of course the vineyard!  The far-reaching views of Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Wales are immense, with the backdrop of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Malvern Hills and the Clee Hills.

The owner of the White Heron Estate, Jo Hilditch, is the 4th generation of her family to be the custodian of the family business, and is dedicated to the values of sustainability, innovation, and diversification, which have become necessary for survival in British farming. Jo achieves the fine balance between traditional countryside values and agile thinking - an example of which is the great quality wine and artisan liqueurs coming from our vineyard and fields.  Her passion for the place shines through, and is engaging when she leads the e-Bike Tour & Tasting experiences around the Estate.

The finest grapes — Seyval Blanc, Madeleine Angevine, and Reichensteiner — are delicately balanced, using the Charmat method to make a sparkling wine that enhances the easy-drinking floral elderflower and an essence of Herefordshire hedgerow. It has a gentle fizz that bubbles gently in your mouth. This wine is stocked by local boutique wine stores and exclusive restaurants and bistros.  It is the perfect dry sparkling wine and makes a spectacular Kir Royale when served with a dash of White Heron's award-winning British Cassis.
