Here is what's in store for you
Barolo and Barbaresco are among the most iconic wines of Italy, produced in one of the most scenic regions in the world: the Langhe. Discovering the great wines and wineries of this area with an expert like Paul Balke (Netherlands) is a truly exceptional experience. Paul, author of Piemonte Wine and Travel Atlas, knows the Langhe region intimately and all its secrets. He regularly organizes professional masterclasses and is the ideal guide to lead you through this fantastic territory. Thanks to his connections, he can open the doors of even the most prestigious cellars and explain both the wines and the traditions behind them.
This is a highly educational tour, designed for true wine enthusiasts. You will admire breathtaking landscapes while learning the stories that shaped them. You’ll discover numerous family-run wineries producing some of the world’s most celebrated reds.
Your day will include visits to carefully selected wineries in the Barolo and Barbaresco areas. Each stop features a guided tour of the estate’s cellar and production facilities, followed by a commented tasting of renowned local wines such as Barolo DOCG or Barbaresco DOCG. Depending on availability and timing, a third winery visit may be added to the itinerary. In many cases, you will meet members of the winemaking families themselves, subject to their availability.
You will also learn about the fascinating history of Barolo as the “King’s wine” and its connection to the unification of Italy in Turin. Along the way, you will have the chance to visit some of the area’s most beautiful villages, including Barolo, La Morra, Monforte, Barbaresco, and their surroundings—places with a truly unique charm.
A lunch reservation will be made for you at a traditional Piedmontese trattoria, where you can enjoy local specialties (lunch not included in the tour price).
This private tour is perfect for groups of friends, business partners, or couples seeking a relaxed yet carefully curated day of memorable experiences in one of Italy’s most beautiful regions—the Langhe hills.
