Albana Wine Tasting with Romagna Breads at Tre Monti in Imola
Here is what's in store for you
At the Tre Monti winery in the hills of Imola, your experience centers on Albana, the historic white grape at the heart of Romagna's winemaking. You will be hosted by Lorenzo, an AIS-certified sommelier, and often greeted by owners David and Vittorio upon arrival.
If the weather allows, your visit begins with a walk through the vineyards. Here, you'll see the agronomic traits of the Albana grape, learning about its natural structure, acidity, and the bond it shares with the local soil and climate. The tour continues inside through the winemaking facility, the aging cellars, and a room dedicated to Georgian amphorae. Lorenzo will explain the different production and aging techniques used to create the many styles of Albana.
The experience concludes in the tasting room with a guided tasting of six Albana wines. Each glass offers a different interpretation of the grape; depending on the season, you might taste a dry Albana, a skin-contact (orange) version, a sparkling style, one aged in amphora, and a sweet Passito. This selection demonstrates how a single native variety can yield wines with distinct personalities. The tasting is paired with traditional Romagna breads, including piadina and filled focaccia.
