A magical place. A most memorable experience.

When we booked a tasting tour with Madonna del Latte through Winedering, we found exactly the fine artistry, tradition and innovation we had come to Tuscany/Umbria to experience. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Ruta and their youngest child in arms, we felt welcome. As she gently ushered us to the terrace where a graciously laid table awaited us under an elegantly rustic pavilion, we were immediately at ease and in awe of the beauty of the vineyard stretching out in all directions. The tour began when Leon appeared and shared the origins of the vineyard, effortlessly in both English and German. He was simultaneously informative and charming as he told his story and spoke about the land, the soil, the types of grapes and how the vineyard evolved. The family’s dedication to both stewarding the land responsibly and producing unique wines of the highest quality was evident in the way he spoke so knowledgeably about the science and artistry of their operation. We learned how Madonna del Latte is invested in both the local wisdom of generations and ecologically sound practices for cultivating the land, as well as the most sophisticated technology for processing and bottling the wine. After passing through the fields and the fascinating fermentation cellars and other rooms, we returned to the terrace table to taste the curated selection of exquisite, prize-winning wines. The ambience could not have been more enjoyable as we sipped the absolutely delicious vintages and admired the countryside. It was a truly memorable experience. Leon and Ruta have created a very special place that is bound to delight and endure for generations to come.
