Contrade Through Time: Etna Wine Tasting at Graci Winery
Here is what's in store for you
Discover the deep connection between wine, history, and volcanic terroir with a unique experience at Graci Winery, dedicated to the contrade of Mount Etna and their evolution over time. This journey offers an in-depth look at how each contrada reflects not only its soil and microclimate, but also the living memory of the land.
The experience begins with a guided visit to the winery’s 19th-century palmento, a traditional Sicilian winemaking structure that tells the story of Etna’s long winemaking heritage. Guests will then walk through the Feudo di Mezzo vineyards, learning about the relationship between Mount Etna, viticulture, and the historic identity of its vineyard areas.
The visit continues with a technical tasting of 6 single-contrada wines, each representing a distinct expression of Etna’s volcanic landscape. Through this comparative tasting, guests will explore how the contrade have developed over time and how soil composition, altitude, exposure, and microclimate shape the personality of each wine.
The tasting is accompanied by Graci’s estate-produced olive oil and artisanal bread.
