The Deluxe Vineyard Picnic at SAIO Assisi is the perfect wine experience to combine an itinerary to visit Assisi with the food and wine goodness it has to offer.

Your wine experience will begin with a guided wine tasting to allow you to choose your favorite wine to enjoy during your picnic. A map of the vineyard trekking route will be handed out with informative bulletin boards about the local wine and viticulture. The trail is truly scenic with exclusive views of Assisi, Perugia, and Santa Maria degli Angeli and is suitable for all ages. You will have the entire vineyard of SAIO Assisi at your disposal.

The picnic takes place in the vineyard in front of a unique view of Assisi, with the Basilica of St. Francis just 800 meters away. Your picnic lunch includes 1 bottle of your choice of Colderba, Colle Asio, Campo delle Grazie, or Eremo wine to enjoy paired with delicious local products including Typical Umbrian bread, SAIO extra virgin olive oil, Artisanal Pecorino cheese of medium seasoning accompanied by grape jam, Artisanal Caciotta cheese with black summer truffle, Artisanal Torta al testo, Artisanal typical Umbrian cold cuts, Porchetta di Costano, a Traditional Umbrian dessert, and mineral water. A variation of the menu for celiacs and vegetarians is available on request.

Piccola cantina, grandi vini

Abbiamo assaggiato degli ottimi vini, preferendo i rossi, che abbiamo poi acquistato.
Le spiegazioni sono state davvero interessanti, anche se forse avrei preferito maggiore interazione con gli ospiti, ad esempio chiedendo che profumi e che sapori riuscivamo a percepire.
Il cibo dell'aperitivo era squisito e abbondante.
Dopo la degustazione abbiamo fatto un giro in autonomia tra le vigne da cui si vede tutta Assisi.
L'unica vera nota che ho è sulla velocità tra un assaggio e l'altro, trovo che non ci fosse abbastanza tempo per terminare il bicchiere nei tempi corretti.

We did the picnic in the vineyard and had a wonderful time. Gorgeous winery, and we were able to walk through the rows of vines and see them up close. The lady that handled the tasting did so in perfect English for us while also handling her Italian customers. She was fabulous.
The only thing I can think of is maybe limiting the experience a little more so there are less people at the picnic area. We had about 20 total in our group.

Esperienza molto curata. La degustazione in cantina è attenta e fatta bene. Piacevole scoprire l'attenzione della famiglia per il territorio. La passeggiata in vigna accompagnata da un ottimo bicchiere di vino ti fa ammirare la bellezza della campagna umbra. La presenza del pony e delle caprette è molto piacevole. Il picnic curato con ottima proposta gastronomia. Esperienza super consigliata

Siamo state accolte nella cantina con cordialità e gentilezza. La spiegazione dei vini è stata esaustiva, accompagnati da un’ottimo tagliere con prodotti locali, ricco e gustoso. Abbiamo apprezzato l’attenzione rispetto alla separazione del pane dato che la mia amica è celiaca. Vini molto buoni e bella esperienza che consiglio per chi vuole godersi una coccola. Ci sarebbe piaciuto fare la passeggiata nei vigneti ma purtroppo il tempo non lo permetteva

Siamo stati qui e ci siamo avvicinati per la prima volta al mondo della degustazione, abbiamo assaggiato i cinque vini uno ad uno spiegandoci tutta la storia che c'è dietro, dal vigneto alla composizione e all'imbottigliamento, ci sono b piaciuti tutti e proseguendo abbiamo fatto un giro nelle vigne e abbiamo conosciuto anche le caprette finendo tutto con un pic-nic in mezzo al verde con il panorama di Assisi.
Pic-nic con un vino incluso a nostra scelta e tagliere di formaggi e affettati di qualità. Ci siamo trovati benissimo dall'inizio alla fine..

Una giornata meravigliosa

Eravamo lì alle 17 e siamo andati via dopo un paio d'ore, dapprima una passeggiata rilassante tra i vigneti dove abbiamo potuto apprezzare anche le indicazioni relative ad ogni appezzamento, al rientro ci aspettava un ricco aperitivo con 5 assaggi di vini due bianchi e tre rossi.. Personale simpaticissimo e preparatissimo. Lo consiglierei vivamente a tutti.

Facilissima da raggiungere, è stato un vero piacere conoscere qualcosa in più su questi vini, grazie anche alla capacità della ragazza, simpatica e "alla mano" (figlia del proprietario se non erro), che ci ha subito messi a nostro agio e descritto dettagliatamente vini e olio di loro produzione.
Buonissimi i prodotti locali che hanno accompagnato la degustazione.
Peccato fosse già buio, e non siamo riusciti a fare il giro in vigna.. la prossima volta!

Bella accoglienza, vini ottimi, la spiegazione dei vini è diventata un piacevolissimo confronto :)
Abbiamo passeggiato tra le vigne per poi arrivare a fare l'aperitivo (abbondante e buonissimo) in mezzo alla natura, senza alcuna restrizione a livello di tempistiche. I proprietari, cordiali, educati, simpatici!
Torneremo sicuramente per una nuova esperienza!
