Sobre la bodega y los vinos

WELCOME TO THE CAPPELLINA ESTATE
At the southern end of the Chianti Classico region, you'll find the Tenuta Cappellina organic estate. Here, perched on warm south-facing slopes, we enjoy spectacular growing conditions and beautiful views of southern Tuscany. Our philosophy is to produce wines in an environment where biodiversity is promoted, where the natural rhythm of the seasons is embraced and where the vineyards are in perfect balance with nature. Our small team has been with us for many years and the passion with which they do their job you will savor in every sip of our wines. We hope you like them.

OUR PRODUCTION PHILOSOPHY

We are fortunate to be assisted by the advice of the famous winemaker Attilio Pagli. Attilio received the honor of being included in the list of the best wine producers in the world, according to the judgment of his colleagues, in an article in Decanter Magazine.

To quote Attilio, “the most important thing is the vineyard: it is the one that gives vision and continuity. And this is why understanding and respecting terroir is the most important attribute for anyone who wants to make a great wine. The wine must be a testimonial of its origins and its link with its terroir, which is the sum of the climate, the soil, the people and the culture of a given territory”.

“Vine varieties have unique personalities and each must be interpreted differently. My job is to interfere as little as possible with the raw materials that nature offers me, putting as much of the fruit's potential into the bottle as possible".

Chianti Classico / 2018
Chianti Classico is the wine that best expresses the territory in which we find ourselves, the result of centuries of tradition on which we are proud to build. Our work in the vineyard and a careful selection result in softer wines, easy to drink, more suited to the taste of today's consumer. The blend in 2018 could not be more traditional, mainly Sangiovese with a small percentage of the Canaiolo native variety, which gives it the perfect element of freshness. Certified organic.

Chianti Classico Riserva / 2018
Our work in the vineyard has contributed to obtaining ever softer and silkier tannins, and through a careful selection of our best grapes, and 30 months of aging in Slavonian oak barrels, our Sangiovese now shows the character we have always sought : wines guided by fruitiness, soft, powerful, aromatic, savory. Our location at the warm southern tip of the Chianti Classico region gives rise to a powerful and intense base that is showcased in this perfectly harmonious Chianti Classico Riserva. Certified organic.

Grand Selection Canto10 / 2016
In the tenth canto of the Inferno, Dante refers to the Arbia river – which defines the boundary of our property to the east – as red during the battle of Monteaperti between Florence and Siena in 1260. The wine sets a new course for our best Sangiovese, and from this point of reference of our estate we were inspired by its name. Canto Dieci was described by Decanter Magazine as “Fruity of blackberry and licorice, beautifully concentrated with layers of smoky complexity and a light touch of well blended wood”, awarding it “Highly Recommended” status in its evaluation of over 300 Chianti producers Classic.

Dianne / 2015
Along the way with our project, one of the most pleasant surprises was the Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in fresh marl soil (clayey and calcareous) with exposure to the east. Every year this vineyard gives us fantastic grapes, with small and uniform bunches and excellent ripe tannins, without ever showing green or herbaceous notes.
The small vineyard of Syrah instead offers us an excellent base for the blends, soft and powerful, the perfect complement to the lively character of the Cabernet. These two wines are the only ones to be aged in small new oak barrels, but never too toasted.

Rosato / 2021
Our Rosato is a fresh and drinkable Rosé, more like a French wine than a traditional Tuscan Rosato – which are normally darker in color and more structured. We harvest the grapes in the last week of August and press them immediately, after which they are cold fermented for 3 weeks, as you would with a white wine. The result is an incredibly fresh and vibrant Rosé, with great colour, an intriguing acidity and an aromatic touch.
