Cellar Tour and Wine Tasting at Lungarotti in Montefalco
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience at the Lungarotti estate in Montefalco begins with a tour of the property. You'll start outdoors, taking in the views of the vineyard that stretches across the surrounding valley and mountains. From there, you'll step inside the villa to see its reception hall and tasting room before descending into the modern underground cellar.
The tour continues two levels down, in the fermentation area where the first steps of the winemaking process happen. You'll then move up to the barrel cellar on the level above, where the wines age in large barrels and smaller barriques, and the estate's older vintages are stored.
After the tour, you'll take a seat in the Fountain Room for a guided tasting led by a Lungarotti wine educator. You will taste three representative wines of the area: a Trebbiano Spoletino DOC, a Montefalco Rosso DOC, and a Sagrantino DOCG. For each glass, your host will explain the grape varieties and the production process, guiding you through a visual, aromatic, and tasting analysis. The tasting is served with freshly baked local bread and Lungarotti's own organic extra virgin olive oil.
