Gold Valpolicella Wine Tasting & Food pairing at Azienda Agricola Nicolis

Your visit to the Nicolis family estate begins in the vineyard overlooking the hills of Marano di Valpolicella. Here, a member of the hospitality team will introduce you to the history of the family, the land, and the local grape varieties you'll see growing on the vines. In case of bad weather, this introduction takes place in the 'appassimento' room, where grapes are left to dry.

The tour continues inside the winery, following the path of the grapes from harvest to the bottle. You will see the areas for crushing and fermentation, and learn about the traditional 'appassimento' process used to concentrate the aromas and sugars for wines like Amarone. The visit concludes with a look at the oak barrels where the wines age before bottling.

Finally, you'll take a seat in the tasting room for a guided tasting of five wines that represent the full spectrum of Valpolicella:
