Tasting of 5 Iconic Wines at Gini in Soave
Here is what's in store for you
Your tasting is hosted by a member of the Gini family, who have been cultivating vines on these hills for fifteen generations. Letizia Gini typically leads the experience, or in her absence, the estate's winemaker, Matteo. The person pouring your wine is always part of the family story.
The experience takes place in the estate's underground cellar, a space carved directly into the volcanic rock beneath Monteforte d'Alpone. Here, surrounded by the barrels where the wines age, you will taste five of the winery's most representative labels, moving from fresh whites to structured reds.
The tasting includes:
• Soave Classico La Froscà: A dry white from 100% Garganega grapes grown on the volcanic soil of the La Froscà single vineyard. It opens the tasting with bright, mineral notes of orchard fruit and white flowers, with a distinct saline, almond-skin finish.
• Soave Classico Contrada Salvarenza: Also 100% Garganega from the Soave Classico area, but from some of the family's oldest vines. This wine is broader and deeper than La Froscà, with more texture and a long, savory finish.
• Pinot Noir Campo alle More: The tasting pivots to reds with the estate's Pinot Noir. It's a lighter-bodied wine with red-berry fruit, fine tannins, and a savory undertone—a Burgundian grape expressing the character of Soave's terroir.
• Valpolicella Superiore Le Mattoline: A classic Valpolicella blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella. This medium-bodied red shows sour-cherry fruit and the dry, faintly bitter-almond finish characteristic of the denomination.
• Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Serea: The tasting concludes with Amarone. The same Valpolicella grapes are dried for months before pressing (a process called appassimento), concentrating their flavors. The result is a rich, warm, full-bodied red with notes of dried cherry, spice, and cocoa.
If you select the food pairing option, your wines will be accompanied by a platter of local products, including Sopressa veneta, a selection of cheeses like Monte Veronese and Asiago, and olives served with taralli, grissini, or focaccia. A gluten-free option is available with prior notice.
