Soave Classico Wine Tasting and Cellar Tour at Gini in Monteforte d'Alpone

This experience is built around a single grape: Garganega. On the eastern side of Soave Classico, the Gini family farms 30 hectares of old vineyards dedicated to this variety, and this tasting follows the grape through its different expressions, from bone-dry to sweet.

Your visit begins underground with a tour of the cellar, a space cut entirely into volcanic rock and one of the most striking in the Soave area. A member of the Gini family, usually Letizia Gini or the estate's winemaker, Matteo, will guide you past the barrels where the wines age.

Following the tour, you will take a seat in the tasting room to sample four wines, poured in order from youngest to sweetest:
- Soave Classico DOC: The estate's benchmark white, 100% Garganega. It's a dry, fresh wine with notes of orchard fruit and the faint almond finish characteristic of the grape.
- Soave Classico DOC "La Froscà": A single-vineyard Soave, also 100% Garganega. This wine is more mineral and focused, with a distinct salty edge from the volcanic soil of the La Froscà vineyard.
- Soave Classico DOC "Contrada Salvarenza - Vecchie Vigne": From some of the family's oldest Garganega vines, this Soave is broader and more textured, with a long, savory finish.
- Recioto di Soave Classico DOCG "Col Foscarin": The tasting concludes with a sweet wine. The Garganega grapes are dried for months to concentrate their sugars, resulting in a golden dessert wine with notes of honey, apricot, and candied citrus.

The tasting is accompanied by grissini and taralli. For children, the winery provides water, fruit juice, and an activity: they can color and personalize a printed version of the estate's most iconic Soave Classico label.
