Innovation Wine Tasting Experience at Soalheiro

Soalheiro was born from a spirit of innovation and a willingness to take risks. In 1974, the first continuous vineyard of Alvarinho in Melgaço was planted in a parcel already known as Soalheiro. By 1982, the first Alvarinho brand from Melgaço was launched, marking the beginning of a journey that continues to push boundaries. Soalheiro ‘Clássico’ was just the start—over the years, new wines have emerged, each showcasing the versatility of Alvarinho.

As the first winery in Portugal certified in Investigation, Development, and Innovation, Soalheiro continues to explore the limits of Alvarinho at the Innovation Cellar, where groundbreaking winemaking techniques shape exclusive, small-batch wines. This tasting offers a rare opportunity to discover limited edition wines, crafted with experimental approaches that redefine what Alvarinho can be.

The experience begins with a visit to the Herbal Tea Fields, an introduction to the region’s biodiversity and the rediscovery of traditional infusions. Next, a tour of the first continuous Alvarinho vineyard in Melgaço, the old family garage where Soalheiro started, and the cellar, where winemaking techniques enhance the diversity of the territory. The Sparkling Wine Cellar and Innovation Cellar showcase the pioneering work that defines Soalheiro today.

From the terrace, with stunning views over the River Minho Valley, the tasting begins with Soalheiro Mosto Flor, followed by the textured Soalheiro Cota 27, and the experimental Soalheiro Ag.Hora Alvarinho and Soalheiro Ag.Hora Loureiro, which challenge traditional winemaking. The tasting continues with the unique Soalheiro O Cubo, two surprise wines from the Innovation Cellar, and Soalheiro Espumante Nature, an organic sparkling wine that embodies Soalheiro’s innovative approach.

The experience concludes with The Pur Terroir infusions, crafted using a low-temperature dehydration process that preserves their natural aromas and properties, reflecting the region’s biodiversity.
