Sparkling Wine Tasting Experience at Soalheiro

Soalheiro pioneered the first Alvarinho Sparkling Wine in 1995, turning innovation into tradition in Monção, Melgaço, and beyond. This experience explores the diversity of the region, starting with a visit to the Herbal Tea Fields, where the landscape before Alvarinho and the revival of traditional infusions come to life. Next is the first continuous Alvarinho vineyard in Melgaço, followed by a stop at the old family garage where Soalheiro began, and the cellar, where various winemaking processes showcase the influence of terroir. The Sparkling Wine Cellar and Innovation Cellar reveal the evolution and experimentation behind Alvarinho sparkling wines.

From the terrace, with a panoramic view over the River Minho Valley, the tasting begins with classic sparkling wines: Soalheiro Espumante Bruto Alvarinho, the first sparkling Alvarinho and a benchmark for the style; Soalheiro Espumante Bruto Rosé, a blend of Alvarinho, Touriga Nacional, and Pinot Noir with a gastronomic profile; Soalheiro Espumante Bruto Nature, an organic sparkling wine made without added sulfites, aged on lees for 24 months; and Soalheiro Espumante Bruto Barrica, with 12 months in barrels and 36 months in the bottle for added complexity.

The tasting continues with Pet Nats, a category developed at the Innovation Cellar, including Soalheiro Pet Nat Alvarinho, made through a non-interventive fermentation process, and Cauda Pet Nat Loureiro and Cauda Pet Nat Alvarelhão, showcasing an emblematic Vinho Verde variety and an indigenous grape with great potential. The experience concludes with The Pur Terroir infusions, herbal teas crafted using an innovative low-temperature dehydration process that preserves their rich aromas, flavors, and natural properties.
