Preston Peak’s Devil’s Elbow vineyard is located at Wyberba on Queensland’s Granite Belt. The vision of owner and self-confessed oenophile Ashley Smith was to produce an exceptional range of cool-climate wines from the vines, some of which are over 50 years old. At an altitude of 860 metres, and originally planted with mostly Chardonnay, the vineyard now boasts over a dozen varietals – both reds and whites – and continues to surprise and delight. Preston Peak Wines have been winning awards since 1997, when the first barrel ferment Chardonnay won a gold medal at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show. Since then the awards have numbered over 300, one highlight being the stunning 2008 Reserve Shiraz, judged to be in the Top Five Shiraz of Australia and New Zealand in the prestigious Winestate Wine of the Year awards. High praise indeed to be judged better than Penfolds Grange Hermitage and Henschke Hill of Grace. Kingsley Grove Estate was founded by the Berry family in 1998 and is operated by the family. Michael and Patricia developed the concept of the vineyard and the site location for the winery whilst undertaking Viticulture studies at Melbourne University and until recently ran the whole production themselves. The vines are now looked after by Peter Stewart, giving Mike and Pat a well deserved rest. Their son, Simon has been making our boutique wine now for 7 years and loving it. The newest addition to the team is Jo, his wife who is now running the office. Simon and Jo’s children, Grace and Polly are learning the ways of the farm by living it and having a fabulous time. Kingsley Grove vineyard lies within the South Burnett Region of Queensland near to the regional town of Kingaroy, which is about 21/2 hours drive from Brisbane. Kingaroy is traditionally recognised for growing Peanuts and Navy Beans, and has been growing wine grapes in the area since the early 1900’s. More recently Kingaroy has gained recognition as one of the fastest growing wine regions in Queensland. Our vineyard is 430 metres above sea level and was established in 1998 when the first vines of the current ten varieties were planted on the site. It is currently 24 acres (10 hectares) in size and can be easily seen from the Bunya Highway, approximately 10km beyond Kingaroy, on the way to the Bunya Mountains National Park.

Tony and Mary Comino grow grapes on 30 acres of vineyards. Together they handcraft and sell their wines on site in their landmarkAustraliana winery. "Our customers love the immediate connection between the grapes we tend just metres away from thecellar door and the wines we taste at the winery" says Mary."As winemakers who grow our own grapes, we are always able to take greater care with growing (sometimes a little obsessively) and take greater risks with ripening than many makers who purchase grapes in " comments Tony Comino. We won four trophies in 2006 including Best Cabernet Sauvignon at the National Cool Climate Wine Show "Our 2006 Trophy for Most successful Queensland Exhibitor at the Royal National Wine Show and 2006 Trophy for Most successful Queensland Exhibitor at the Australian Small Winemaker's Show at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism along with the many wine show medals awarded this year confirm our faith in our unique vineyard sites and region . The wines we produce are a complementary blend of Mary's business and promotional experience with Tony's viticultural and winemaking experience. .
