Successivamente siamo passati alla degustazione, anch’essa curata nei dettagli e ricca di piatti da assaggiare insieme al buonissimo gavi che abbiamo bevuto.
Assolutamente esperienza che consiglierei ad amici e parenti.

La Raia is a Demeter certified biodynamic farm. It is set in Novi Ligure (Alessandria) in the gentle hills of Piedmont's Gavi wine region,an area with a long wine making history due to its unique climate,which favours the maturation of the grapes. The estate extends over 180 hectares,including 42 of vineyards and 80 of fields;the remaining are pastures,chestnuts,elderflower and acacia woodlands inhabited by wild animals. Inspired by the biodynamic principles,the Rossi Cairo family bought La Raia in 2003 with the aim of recovering and enhancing the original ecosystem through a broad intervention project. La Raia also revealed itself to be a true biodiversity for bees and other pollinator insects;beside our wines we have a copious production of acacia,multi flower and woodland honey. In 2013 La Raia Foundation was born,wanted by Giorgio Rossi Cairo and his wife Irene Crocco,art dealer. The foundation aims to promote a critical reflection over the landscape through the contribution of artists,photographers,philosophers.They have been invited to live and experience our vineyards,fields and woods offering opportunities of new knowledge and identities of the land. The first act of the foundation was the project Nel paesaggio.Remo Salvadori has been invited to lay his artist's gaze on the landscape.Three permanent artworks derived from his reflection on the environment: "Nel Momento "and "Continuo Infinito Presente",situated next to cellar and "Il sabato piantare il cipresso",within the vineyards. In September 2014,during a flume night, "Ousser " was presented,a permanent artwork realized by the Corean Artist Koo Jeong A. at Borgo Merlassino.
At La Raia we produce three kinds of multi-awarded Gavi D.o.c.g. and two kinds of Piemonte D.o.c. Barbera. Our traditional Gavi D.o.c.g. is the wine that best represents the typical features of the Cortese vine it comes from. This wine is left on the lees for about 3/4 months,it is then cold stabilized before being bottled at the beginning of April.This method helps to obtain a fresh,ready to drink wine. Gavi D.o.c.g. Riserva Vigna della Madonnina,comes from a single vineyard,grapes are handpicked slightly raisined,with a golden yellow color. The wine obtained is characterized by a complex aroma of ripe fruit. It remains for six months on the lees and six month in bottle. Gavi D.o.c.g. Pisé is the best expression of the farm's philosophy. It is surprisingly long-lived and its aroma involves when uncorked;a constant discover of fragrances loosened in time. This wine comes from a selection of the best grapes of the oldest plants and is produced only in the best vintages. It remains at least 20 months on the lees before being bottled. Piemonte Barbera D.o.c. represents the typical Piedmont red wine,it shows the right balance between acidity and fresh tasting. It is refined in stainless steel thanks.
