Narrative Wine Tasting with Local Bites at Oreste Cantina in Verona

Just steps from Piazza Erbe in Verona's historic center, this small group tasting takes place at Oreste Cantina Dal Zovo, a local landmark since the mid-20th century. You'll be guided by an experiential curator or, on some dates, by a certified sommelier, through a relaxed, story-led tasting where the wines of Verona tell the city's story.

This is not a technical lesson, but a cultural experience designed to be comfortable for both first-timers and wine lovers. The tasting opens with a glass of Prosecco DOC, a fresh sparkling white from the Glera grape made with the tank method (Metodo Martinotti). Next is a Soave DOC, a still white from Garganega, the signature grape of the hills east of Verona, known for its dry profile and faint almond note. The reds begin with a Valpolicella Classico DOC, a light-bodied blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella with distinct sour-cherry fruit. The tasting closes with Valpolicella Ripasso DOC, made from the same grapes but given a second fermentation on the skins of Amarone, resulting in a fuller, warmer wine.
