Premium Douro Wine & Port Tasting and Winery Tour at Alma Soalheira
Here is what's in store for you
Your visit to Alma Soalheira begins in the vineyards overlooking the Douro Valley, where a guide will welcome you with a glass of Moscatel. You'll walk among the vines as your guide explains the unique landscape and the challenges of viticulture on the region's steep slopes.
The tour continues inside the winery, housed in the historic former Penajóia Wine Cooperative building from 1962. Here, you will see how traditional machinery stands alongside modern winemaking technology, and learn about the property's history and its collaboration with local grape growers.
The experience culminates in the panoramic tasting room. You will have a guided tasting of six wines: one IG Duriense, three DOC Douro wines, including a Reserva and two Grande Reservas, and two different Port wines. The tasting is paired with a selection of local products: three-month-aged cow's milk cheese, olive-filled bread (bola de azeitona), meat-filled bread (bola de carne), rye bread (broa de centeio), walnuts, and olive oil with a Port wine reduction.
For children, water or fruit juice will be served instead of wine. During the harvest season, they can also taste fresh grape must before it begins fermentation.
