Private Alvarinho Wine Tour of Melgaço, from Porto

Your private tour begins when your guide and driver collect you from your hotel in an electric car to travel to Melgaço, the heart of Portugal's Alvarinho wine region by the Minho River. Your guide will be with you for the entire day, sharing insights into the area's landscapes and winemaking traditions.

The first stop is the Alvaianas winery, where you'll be welcomed by the estate's hospitality manager for a guided tour of the property. Next, you'll visit the renowned Quinta do Soalheiro. Here, another hospitality manager will lead you through the estate before the main tasting.

In the tasting room, or on the terrace if the weather allows, you will sample five wines: four still and one sparkling. The lineup includes Soalheiro Reserva Alvarinho, Soalheiro Terra Mater Bio, Soalheiro Loureiro Vinhas Velhas, Soalheiro Melpasso, and the Espumante Bruto Barrica. The wines will be paired with regional specialties, including smoked ham and cheese from Quinta do Jalloto.

After the tasting, you'll take a leisurely 5-kilometer walk along a scenic, flat path by the river to see the vineyards up close. The day continues with an exploration of the historic town of Melgaço before your guide drives you back to your hotel.
