Qvevri Wine Cellar Tour & Tasting with Regional Delicacies at Vazis Xidi, Imereti

Vazis Xidi is a family-run qvevri winery in Geguti, Imereti, western Georgia. Since 2016, the winery has been crafting small-batch wines from rare Georgian grape varieties using traditional qvevri winemaking: clay vessels buried in the ground, where the wines ferment and age naturally, without additives.

Your visit begins with a guided tour of the qvevri wine cellar, hosted by the Vazis Xidi team and shaped by the welcoming approach of founders Alex Gabunia and Rahel Zoebeli. During the visit, you will discover the story behind the winery, its approach to winemaking, and the ancient traditions that continue to shape every bottle produced here. You will see the hand-buried qvevri up close and learn what makes Imereti one of Georgia’s most distinctive wine regions.

Afterwards, the experience continues in the winery garden with a selection of regional delicacies, accompanied by 3 carefully chosen qvevri wines from the cellar: one white, one amber, and one red. The delicacies are served alongside the wines, and while the team is happy to recommend pairings and a tasting order, you are welcome to discover your favorite combinations.

The menu features two options: Mountain & River, including sturgeon ceviche, tomato carpaccio, hummus with Imeretian herbs and Racha ham, and homemade pâté; and Garden & Fields, a vegetarian selection with walnut pâté, eggplant mousse, beetroot hummus, and tomato carpaccio. Both are served with homemade sourdough bread. Children are welcome to enjoy either of the same menu options, accompanied by homemade lemonade or another non-alcoholic drink.
