Sommelier-led Tasting of 11 Wines and Food at Tenute Ca' Botta near Verona
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience at Tenute Ca' Botta begins in the hills of Valpantena, where Alexander, the sommelier from the winery will greet you. The tour starts with a view over the vineyards before heading into the cellar to see where the grapes are received, fermented, and aged in steel and wood. During the appassimento season, you'll also visit the 'fruttaio', the traditional loft where grapes are dried for the Amarone, with the sommelier explaining each stage of the process.
The visit continues in the tasting room with a flight of eleven wines that showcases the estate's full range.
The tasting begins with four whites: Le Poggie (Garganega), Soprazocco (Riesling DOC), the wood-aged Le Pergolette (Garganega), and La Callaia (Benaco Bresciano IGT Riesling).
You will then move on to the reds, starting with Cerviero, Torcinato (Valpolicella Superiore DOC), and Costa Rossa (Valpolicella Ripasso DOC).
The flight culminates with four of the estate's most important labels: Tenuta Cajo and Prometeo, two distinct expressions of Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG; the Pian di Mezzo Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva; and Priore, a limited-edition Veneto Rosso IGT.
To accompany the wines, you'll be served a platter with two types of cured meats from the Verona area, a fresh and an aged local cheese, and fresh bread. For children or guests who do not drink alcohol, a non-alcoholic alternative is available.
