Truffle Hunting Adventure, Lunch & Wine Tasting at Castello Monterinaldi in Chianti Classico
Here is what's in store for you
Your experience at Castello Monterinaldi, a historic estate in Tuscany's Chianti Classico region, begins in the woods. You'll meet an expert truffle hunter and his Lagotto Romagnolo, a dog breed known for its natural talent in finding truffles. After an introduction to the traditions of the hunt, you will spend approximately 80 minutes exploring the estate’s truffle grounds, following the dog as it searches the forest floor.
After the hunt, the hospitality team will lead you on a 30-minute guided tour of the historic cellar. Here, you will learn about the estate’s organic philosophy and winemaking techniques. The day continues inside the estate’s 19th-century villa with a truffle-themed lunch. The menu includes:
- A mixed Tuscan appetizer with cured meats and cheeses (prosciutto, salami, finocchiona, pecorino, and parmesan), and bruschetta
- Fresh egg tagliatelle with butter and truffle
- A meat-based main course with a side dish
- Extra virgin olive oil and orange cake
Lunch is paired with a tasting of three of Castello Monterinaldi’s organic red wines: Chianti Classico DOCG, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, and Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG. This 3.5-hour experience combines a walk through the woods with a focus on the estate's organic wines and local cuisine.
