Wine tasting and gourmet cutting board with panoramic view on Valpolicella Classica
Here is what's in store for you
Castrum invites you to live a unique sensory experience through a tasting of 5 fine Valpolicella wines of our own production, surrounded by a landscape rich in history and beauty.
Meet your guide and let yourself be led into the boutique cellar, decorated with artistic mosaics – a scenic and evocative tasting stage. Then, relax on the panoramic terrace or (in case of rain) in the panoramic room, while tasting: Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC, Valpolicella Ripasso DOC, Corvina IGT, Amarone DOCG, and a sweet Passito IGT “Dolcevita”.
The tasting is accompanied by typical local gourmet products, including gourmet charcuterie and cheese platter, two Castrum mustards, and Sbrisolona cake. Close your eyes and embark on a journey into the world of flavor, feeling perfectly at home.
Castrum Wine Relais and Borghetti Giampiero Winery offer a true “concept” experience: a journey through wines, art, architecture, family history, and centuries-old traditions. We are a winery with a restaurant: our Wine Bistro is open year-round, every day, offering authentic local dishes. We are proud winners of the 2025 Wine Tasting & Food Experience title in Italy at the international Great Wine Capitals of the World competition.

Classic Valpolicella in an almost private winery!
Our guide was very helpful and outgoing, we really appreciated being able to speak freely without being limited to just listening.
The winery is small, and the wine is mainly destined for export... so it was all the more a rare experience to be able to taste Valpolicella Superiore, Ripasso and Amarone... it's impossible to find them elsewhere!
It is by seeking out these small operations (40 thousand bottles in total per year) and preferring them to the giants of large-scale distribution that we choose to preserve the extraordinary craftsmanship of our country, and on every trip we try to discover these little gems and, in our own small way, make them known to friends and family.
Right at the beginning of the tasting with a view, a rather challenging thunderstorm appeared... but the facility's staff were very quick to set everything up inside and have us start the tasting all over again from the beginning.
The platter of cured meats and cheeses was truly rich and complete, we even had some left over because we were full!
We were really happy with the choice we made, and we definitely recommend it!
