Feudi di Guagnano
(Winery in Guagnano)

5 (1 Review)
Feudi di Guagnano was established with the mission of preserving vineyards in North Salento, particularly those growing Negroamaro and Primitivo, which were at risk of abandonment. The winery is deeply connected to the Salento region, a historically significant wine-producing area. Its name, derived from the Latin word “feudus,” reflects its rural roots, with vineyards scattered across various districts in Guagnano. The winery’s brand, inspired by local history, embodies a deep respect for tradition and its dedication to revitalizing the region's viticulture.

Every one of has a story to tell, just like a wine. The story of a wine can be told through generations, seasons, memories, hopes, and vines. And our eyes never seem to stray from those vines as they bask in the sun and we contemplate the heavens and the cycles of life. This land existed long before anyone left a footprint on its soil. Its memory stretches back thousands of years. It’s the same land where our grapes ripen, year and year, in the sunshine of summer, just like they have for millennia. You could call our story a love story, one that our family has lived since the end of the Second World War. A story that interweaves passion and memory in the cradle of Italy’s south, a story that has Puglia’s beautiful Salento peninsula as its backdrop.

It is Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo’s headquarter, and a small contemporary art gallery: among the wooden barrels, the desks, the production spaces, some paintings of considerable value are alternated with the magnificent mural “Germinazioni3” created by the Maestro Ercole Pignatelli, a great protagonist of Italian and European figurative culture since the 1960s, while the underground cellar holds the precious archeological finds telling the ancient history of wine in the private “Museum of the Symposium of Claudio Quarta“. Visitors to the winery are accompanied on a unique journey between wine and the artistic and architectural beauty that redesigned the workplace. Periodically are hosted here photographic and pictorial exhibitions of emerging artists, wine tastings – sometimes associated with impromptu moments of dance and theater. This is possible because Moros is a unique place, where you can breathe the special link between Art and Wine.

The family has recently expanded the firm and built a brand new modern winery and a new showroom where the greatest wine from Salento is kept. They’ve also blended tradition and innovation by vitrifying the old fermentation containers and the concrete tanks. Cooling plates have been put in them in order to control both the fermentation and the ageing wine temperature. Of particular interest are the cutting-edge rooms where the wine ageing barrels are kept and thanks to a temperature control waterfall system, the right temperature is mantained throughout.
