Beautiful venue with a small restaurant on site along with many little shops. The history of the winery is interesting to learn and adds to the overall ambiance and character.

The Bernardo Winery is like a small village. They have a bakery, restaurant, sweet shop, and a winery.

We were here on a rainy day so we were enjoying our tasting out on the patio watching the rain. The wine was good and I ended up buying several before leaving.

I especially liked the Merlot, Zinfandel, and reserve port.

Plenty of parking. About a 30 minute drive from San Diego.

Wonderful place! Beautiful scenery and the staff is awesome! Linda in the tasting room was super friendly and helpful. You also get to sample a piece of chocolate with each glass in the sweet shop. The atmosphere in general brings on nothing but good vibes! Definitely worth the visit!

Very relaxing time. We purchased the 5 wine sampler. Enjoyed sipping each sample and casually walking to sweet shop for chocolate pairing. Walked around the vineyards and saw a beehive, windmill, and set up for a wedding. Eating at the cafe was pleasurable, great service, cozy table outside in a corner. Peaceful day.

About Winery and Wines

Welcome to Bernardo Winery! Located 25 miles north of downtown San Diego, nestled inside the quiet town of Rancho Bernardo, lies one of the best-kept secrets in the county, and a slice of San Diego history. Winery and Village tucked away in the hills of North County, San Diego. We offer wine tasting, a village of unique shops, beautiful gardens and a little slice of the old country. Family owned for three generations and over 125 years old, the Rizzo family still produces wines at the winery using San Diego grapes. The winery has transitioned over the years from the early production and growing style established in San Diego by the missionaries to family heritage roots by producing Italian varietals as well as Spanish and French varietals/ Our wines are dry climate style wines well suited for the San Diego Terrior.
