To all those who already know us, I would like to thank you for trusting our brand for 35 years. To all those who don’t know us yet, welcome to Bertha. From 1989 we have been producing what is for us the best wine in the world: THE CAVA. You won’t find anywhere else a sparkling wine with a so marked personality, due to the landscape, the land, the climate and, above all, because of its local grape varietals. The blend of these grape varietals provides the cava a unique personality. The Montserrat mountain range gives shelter to the Penedès region, which is located rather close to the sea. Its a special place where base wines are produced because of its extraordinay situation. The landscape is an spectacle in any period of the year. Until recently, Cava Bertha was located in the central area of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, where we have worked, during the first phase, from 1989 to 2014. In this old cellar we have developed our activity dealing with two big disadvantages: we have had to work in small spaces and in the central area of the town, with all the problems that these circumstances cause; but here our brand has grown and we have spent 35 years of our life doing what we love most. In this town we have carried out our projects. Here we have learnt a way of doing things so we want to thank Sant Sadurní d’Anoia for the oportunity that gave us at that moment. We are currently located in a dream location, surrounded by vineyards in the municipality of Subirats, with direct views of Montserrat Mountain. Here, we are expanding our production and beginning to produce still wines in addition to our cavas, as well as offering wine tourism experiences.
We primarily produce cavas. We have eight different cavas and three still white wines. Among our cavas, we have two young cavas called Lounge, which are very fresh, aromatic, and have a youthful character, ideal for aperitifs and summertime. Then we have our two reserve cavas, Ivette and Bertha, our most traditional and emblematic cavas of the brand. Finally, we produce four gran reserve cavas. Cardús is our first gran reserva and the most awarded cava in the house. Then we have SXXI and its rosé version, which are very elegant and gastronomic. And Cava Max, the longest-aged cava we produce at Bertha, with more than 15 years of aging. The still white wines are all made from our own grapes, one 100% red Xarelo, which also has a charity project for breast cancer research. Then Umami, an aromatic wine and one of the first we have made, and finally, Mountain, a 100% Xarelo aged in barrels.
