Bodega-Destilería Picos de Cabariezo

Picos de Cabariezo is the story of childhood friends who, in 2000, pursued their passion for winemaking in the Liébana valley, surrounded by the majestic Picos de Europa. This area, once rich in winemaking tradition, had lost its vines, but the team revived it with their pioneering vision. As one of the few wineries in Cantabria, Picos de Cabariezo has played a vital role in restoring the region's wine culture, blending tradition with modern techniques to produce exceptional wines and spirits in a unique microclimate.

Picos de Cabariezo primarily focuses on the Mencía grape, a rare and valuable variety native to the area, Galicia, and León. They also grow Syrah and Gewurztraminer, which have adapted beautifully to the mountain terroir, giving the wines a distinctive profile. Though red wines dominate their production, the winery also crafts limited amounts of white wine. The wines are known for their elegance, reflecting the unique microclimate and mountainous terrain that gives each bottle a sense of place.
