Cantine Colonna

Winery in Hills of Tortona

About the Winery

Cantine Colonna Winery was established in 1969 with only two hectares of land which have been gradually enlarged up to the current thirty, which include vineyards, orchards, and, to a lesser extent, arable land. The soils, clayey and mainly exposed to the south, allow us to obtain excellent red and white wines, both DOC and non-DOC. Since 2018, moreover, the company has dedicated part of its fruit to the production of extra jams and fruit in syrup. Cantine Colonna, a family business, has always aimed at the valorization of the surrounding territory, committing itself to respect biodiversity and adopting a management system.

About the Wines

Cantine Colonna spans 13 hectares of DOC vineyards, producing a diverse range of wines from varieties such as Barbera, Bonarda, Croatina, Dolcetto, and Timorasso. The winery emphasizes natural production methods, using concrete barrels for red wines and steel barrels for whites, ensuring minimal temperature fluctuations and optimal fermentation. The estate’s key wines include Barbera "Ca’Agnese", with its floral and spicy notes, and Timorasso "Fogliata", a white wine aged on lees for 10 months, offering a rich, citrusy profile with a mineral finish.

The winery also offers Barbera "Gasia" Superiore, aged in oak barriques for 12 months, which is known for its intense aromas of dried plum, cacao, and vanilla. Additionally, Croatina "Intenso" stands out for its fruity, well-balanced character, and the Dolcetto "Il Ciliegio" displays deep cherry and blackberry notes with a harmonious finish. The Piemonte DOC Bonarda and the Piemonte Rosso Passito "Mora Selvatica" round out the red wine portfolio, while the Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso "Fogliata" reflects the estate’s commitment to preserving local grape varieties.

Cantine Colonna's wines are highly expressive of the region’s terroir, with attention to natural processes that ensure each bottle delivers a distinctive taste of their land.
