About Winery and Wines
Château Arton, the spirit-tourism destination to learn all about Armagnac. Arton is an 88-hectare family vineyard nestled in the Gers countryside. The Montal family produces wines and a rare Haut-Armagnac AOC — the first Armagnac to receive the Prix d’Excellence at the Concours Général Agricole. The vineyard, cultivated using permaculture, is currently in conversion to biodynamics.
Discover the cradle of Blanche Armagnac AOC, the armagnac that does not age in barrels. Created in Arton in 1985 under the brand name Fine Blanche®, Patrick de Montal demonstrates that the excellence of Armagnac depends on the know-how of the wine and that distillation brings out all the aromas of the wine. The Montal-Montesquiou family defends an innovative vision: Armagnac is not a brandy, it is part of the wine culture. This led the family to plant their vineyard in 1991 to raise their wine and their Armagnac. Everything, from the vine to the wine, from the wine to the Armagnac, must be made on the estate and in a way that best embodies Arton's terroir and know-how.
