About Winery and Wines

Perched above the Gaillac plain, Château de Tauziès carries a rich legacy that dates back to the Neolithic period. Initially an agricultural estate, it was transformed in 1851 by Augustin Louis Barrau into a flourishing wine estate, with 35 of its 50 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Under the stewardship of Philadelphe Thomas, the estate became known for its vibrant landscape and high-quality wines.

The Château’s winery, rebuilt in the late 19th century, is surrounded by a functional arrangement of agricultural buildings around a central courtyard. The residence, positioned above a semi-buried winery, offers panoramic views of the surrounding vineyards and park from its terrace.

Today, under the direction of Nathalie Deschamps and Jacques Tranier, Château de Tauziès seamlessly blends its historical charm with modern comforts. The estate serves as a premier destination for luxury accommodations, weddings, and seminars. Guests can enjoy 15 spacious suites equipped with kitchenettes, savor gourmet and breakfast boxes, and explore the estate’s lush vineyards. The 200 m² Cellar Room, with its original Cordais stone and exposed beams, is perfect for hosting memorable events, while the Tasting Cellar offers a delightful experience with the Château's wines and local delicacies.

Whether strolling through the vineyards, cycling the scenic paths, playing pétanque, or relaxing under century-old cedars, Château de Tauziès offers a timeless escape where the pleasures of wine and nature are perfectly intertwined.

The vineyards of Château de Tauziès are deeply rooted in the rich history of Gaillac, a region where viticulture has flourished for over 2,000 years. Introduced by the Phoenicians four centuries before Christ, vine cultivation in this area has always thrived, thanks to its favorable climate and strategic location. Gaillac’s vineyards, situated near the navigable Tarn River and key trade routes, were historically well-positioned for the transport of wine, contributing to the region's reputation as a significant wine-producing area.

Today, the Château de Tauziès continues this proud tradition on its 32 hectares of vines, cultivated under the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) Gaillac by Vinovalie. The estate is dedicated to maintaining the high standards of the Gaillac appellation, with a focus on producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Each bottle from Château de Tauziès embodies centuries of viticultural expertise and a commitment to quality that has been a hallmark of Gaillac’s wine history.
