Château La Rose Monturon

Winery in Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion, Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux

About the Winery

Château La Rose Monturon is a small family-run winery nestled at the foot of the grand castles of Saint-Émilion, in the Bordeaux region of France. This 2.5-hectare estate has been producing red wines for many years, benefiting from its privileged location on the slopes of this renowned appellation.

The current owner, a daughter and granddaughter of winemakers, took over part of the family’s vineyards in 2005. Together with her husband Stéphane, she has made La Rose Monturon more than just a profession—it is a shared life project rooted in passion. Their commitment to respecting nature and working in harmony with the environment guides their every decision in both the vineyard and the cellar.

Visitors to Château La Rose Monturon are welcomed with simplicity and warmth. The tour is designed as a moment of exchange, beginning in the vineyard, continuing through the fermentation and barrel cellars, and concluding with a tasting in the estate’s dedicated sales space. The vineyard is carefully tended, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes grown to produce expressive and high-quality red wines.

About the Wines

Château La Rose Monturon produces wines under the prestigious Saint-Émilion and Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellations, offering elegant, expressive reds that reflect the estate’s dedication and terroir.

La Rose Monturon 2020 presents an intense red color reminiscent of Bigarreau cherries, indicating a dense and vibrant wine. On the nose, the initial power softens to reveal roundness and balance, followed by aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant after aeration. The palate confirms the first impressions—fresh, fruity, supple, and round—with already well-integrated tannins. Explosive black fruits dominate the mid-palate, leading to a long, silky finish marked by richness and freshness. This warm, flavorful Saint-Émilion is ready to be enjoyed now, though it will benefit from another year of cellaring.

Amalgame 2020, labeled as AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, is a wine of greater concentration and depth. Its dense, purple hue with brilliant reflections signals a wine of substance. The nose is delicate at first, revealing notes of fresh fruit, then evolves into richer aromas of vanilla and candied red fruit. On the palate, it is lively and full-bodied, with creamy texture and a touch of licorice adding to its complexity. The oak is perfectly integrated, enhancing without overpowering, while the smoky, refined finish brings elegance and balance to the tasting experience.
