"Domaine Piallat, it’s not the completion of a whole lineage, but a family homage. From my great-grandparents’ humble farm, I wanted to do in only one generation what my forebears couldn’t realize by their own. On the eve of my majority, I leapt into this adventure, an adventure concretised some years later, in 2003, with my wife Laure. If you know the goose that lays the golden eggs, you’ll soon know this land, which tells a real myth about “dark diamonds” growing at the roots of trees. It is the truffle that inspired me to make my wines in my ancestor’s mother tongue, Latin, for our first two red wines, Melano and Aestivum, but also in the language of my childhood, provençal, for our prestigious vintage Rabasse. It is on these grounds, fitting its hills and plateaus’ reliefs, that I stand alongside such unique and diverse grape varieties and that I work this land in harmony with nature, a nature which remains wild while letting itself be tamed. I fulfilled the dream of generations who got caught up in the hectic pace of time. My only wish is to inspire through this achievement the respect that I give and receive from nature. I hope that, after me, we will continue to share these human values with generosity. We like to do so in my home region! Domaine Piallat crafts a range of expressive wines from the heart of the Drôme Provençale, reflecting both the power and elegance of the Rhône Valley terroir. The estate’s vineyards are located at altitudes between 380 and 400 meters, on predominantly clay-limestone soils with areas of rolled pebbles, and the vines average 40 years of age.
Côtes du Rhône Villages Red Wines
Cuvée 'Rabasse' 2021
A blend of Grenache (50%), Syrah (20%), Carignan (15%), and Mourvèdre (15%), aged in oak barrels. This structured wine reveals a deep red color and elegant notes of red and black fruits. Ideal for festive meals and perfect with artisanal charcuterie like serrano. Best served at 14–15°C and can age up to 15 years.
Cuvée 'Aestvum' 2022
Composed of 85% Syrah and 15% Grenache, this wine is known for its finesse and long, elegant finish. With aromas of red fruits and spices, it offers structured tannins and a hint of licorice. Serve at 10–12°C and enjoy within 8–10 years.
Cuvée 'Mélano' 2019
A smooth and generous red made from Grenache Noir (85%) and Syrah (15%), grown on pebble-strewn hillsides. Silky on the palate, with bright red fruit and soft sweetness rounding the youthful tannins. Serve at 10–12°C. Best enjoyed within 6 years.
Côtes du Rhône Villages White
Côtes du Rhône Blanc AOC
A 50/50 blend of Roussanne and Marsanne, this white wine displays a bright pale yellow hue and aromas of white flowers, exotic fruits, and white-fleshed fruit. The palate is generous and fleshy, perfect as an aperitif or with both fish and meat dishes. From 30-year-old vines at 380m altitude.
