Sitio precioso

6/1/23

About Winery and Wines

Morgado do Quintão is a large family property restored in the early 1800s, located between Silves, Monchique and Lagoa, in the Algarve, Portugal, having been founded in 1910 by the Count of Silves and still in the possession of his descendants. It is a family story in which the passion for the countryside, gastronomy and artistic creation merges with the love for the local heritage, beauty and conservation. The estate's vineyards are some of the oldest in the Algarve and it is from there that our award-winning wines are born, created in partnership with winemaker Joana Maçanita. Our wines are in the Algarve, Lisbon, London, Paris and New York and take the knowledge and flavors of the Algarve far

Our motto is “Algarve’s Landmark Vineyard” because we take this commitment and this heritage really seriously, to which we add Joana Maçanita’s vision of “less man, more region” in the winemaking. We’d say that the winemaking that sustains the project Morgado do Quintão is “low-intervention”. We don’t love the term “natural wine” because we’re winemakers, so we convert grapes into wine using man as the primary tool to do it but the idea is not to put “too much of our hands into the wine” and let the land, the soil and the grapes be the ones deciding what will end up influencing the profile of the wine.
