Morgado do Quintao
About the Winery
Morgado do Quintão is a historic family estate nestled between Silves, Monchique, and Lagoa, in the heart of the Algarve, Portugal. Founded in 1910 by the Count of Silves, the estate remains in the care of his descendants, who continue to honour a legacy deeply rooted in the land.
With a long-standing passion for viticulture, gastronomy, and artistic expression, Morgado do Quintão is guided by a profound respect for local heritage, natural beauty, and conservation. Its vineyards are among the oldest in the Algarve, producing award-winning wines that faithfully express the unique terroir of this remarkable region.
The estate, lovingly restored and dating back to the early 1800s, stands as a living testament to the family’s commitment to preserving both the cultural and natural richness of the Algarve. Today, Morgado do Quintão wines are enjoyed not only throughout Portugal but also in renowned international markets such as Lisbon, London, Paris, and New York, carrying the true essence of the Algarve to wine lovers around the world.
About the Wines
At Morgado do Quintão, our approach to winemaking is guided by the philosophy of being an “Algarve Landmark Vineyard”, rooted in a deep respect for the region’s viticultural heritage.
Working closely with acclaimed winemaker Joana Maçanita, we follow a low-intervention philosophy, allowing the land, the soil, and the vines to speak for themselves. Rather than defining our wines as “natural,” we focus on minimal human intervention, carefully guiding the process so that each wine is shaped by its origin.
This thoughtful approach results in wines that are a true expression of the Algarve, capturing the diversity, character, and authenticity of its landscapes. Balancing tradition and innovation, our wines reflect the distinctive flavours and aromas of our historic vineyards.
Whether enjoyed locally or in international cities such as Lisbon, London, or New York, Morgado do Quintão wines celebrate the timeless beauty of the Algarve and its enduring winemaking excellence.

Wonderful
Just the sight of the long table under the olive tree between all the little trees and vines took our breath away.
It was a dreamlike atmosphere.
The antipasti and the food were very delicious and the wines were very high-quality, also well-paired with the food.
The tour was interesting and informative.
We felt very comfortable and found everyone super friendly and kind.
Thank you very much for this beautiful experience
A beautiful place
Lunch and wine tasting
Beautiful place
We would have liked to do a mini tour of the vineyard before dinner. We were taken directly to dinner and we thought that beforehand we would have a little explanation about the winemaking process.
Explain each wine better and why it is presented with this food. We missed a little more detail about the place and what was served at dinner. It didn't seem like a wine tasting.
