About Winery and Wines

The winemaking philosophy at Quinta da Vineadouro centers on producing wines that reflect identity and a deep sense of place. With vineyards that have been family-owned for over 250 years, the estate offers wines of great complexity, shaped by its centennial vineyards. Since the 19th century, the family’s great-grandfather has already produced fortified wines, and today, the 7th and 8th generations remain dedicated to preserving this historic property while ensuring the sustainability of the ecosystem for future generations.

Quinta da Vineadouro spans 140 hectares, dominated by vineyards and olive trees. Its unique characteristics, deeply rooted local identity in Douro Superior, and rich history contribute to celebrating wine culture in this exceptional setting. The estate's long-standing tradition, combined with its natural and cultural resources, fosters an ideal environment for creating wines that honor the past while looking toward the future.

With authenticity at its core, the estate strives for excellence in every aspect of winemaking. The deep connection to the Douro, respect for people and nature, and simplicity in hospitality are reflected in every detail of Quinta da Vineadouro, preserving its traditions and sharing its story through its wines.

Quinta da Vineadouro is a 4.2-hectare vineyard situated at an altitude of approximately 450 meters, on schist-based land in the Douro region. The vineyard is traditionally structured, divided into ten scenic plots of old vines. The crown jewel of the estate is the century-old Vinha da Coitadinha, planted on terraces, where a typical Douro “field blend” is used. This vineyard embodies an extraordinary diversity of grape varieties.

The red varieties include Bastardo, Casculho, Cornifesto, Grand Noir, Malvasia Preta, Moreto, Mourisco, Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Carvalha, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional.

The white varieties feature Carrega Branco, Folgazão, Gouveio, Malvasia Fina, Malvasia Rei, Rabigato, Síria, and Trincadeira Branca.

Quinta da Vineadouro produces premium, exclusive wines with a commitment to minimal intervention. Using sustainable viticulture and farming practices, spontaneous yeasts, and natural fermentation, the estate employs minimal oenological additives. The style of these wines is rooted in the revival of the traditional aromas and flavors characteristic of Douro Superior, with over 22 grape varieties making up a classic Douro field blend.
