About Winery and Wines
Corte Fornello is a small family-run winery for five generations nestled in the Moreniche hills south of Lake Garda (Verona, Italy). We take care of our 15 hectares of vineyards and have an innate passion for producing high-quality wines that respect the environment and the traditions handed down from our grandparents but with the help of new technologies. In our wine cellar, you will have a unique experience where you can not only taste our wines, but also our cold meats and cheeses that we make or age ourselves in our 1700s barrique cellar. Ivano and Michele, father and son, will accompany you throughout the visit and wine tasting.
We are located in a strategic area for the cultivation of our grapes, the Moreniche Hills, which lie south of Lake Garda. Surrounded by mountains, it creates a Mediterranean microclimate suitable for the growth of our grapes. We find, therefore, variable, gravelly, skeleton-rich and deep soils, and a climatic situation influenced by Lake Garda and Monte Baldo, which guarantee a constant draught of air and the right temperatures for our vineyards.
Our wines include several "Denominazioni di Origine Controllata" (DOC) such as Custoza and Bardolino, "Denominazioni di Origine Controllata e Garantita" (DOCG) such as Bardolino Superiore and Amarone della Valpolicella, and many other Typical Geographical Indications (IGT) such as Garganega and Corvina, our indigenous grape varieties. Our wines are very fresh and drinkable, floral, fruity and mineral, due to our tradition of drinking wine at any time of day. Each sip will invite you to drink another. For bubbly lovers like Ivano, we have also created two Classic Method sparkling wines: a white one that does more than 48 months on the lees, and a rosé that does about 24 months on the lees. To finish our lunches and dinners in the best possible way, we invite you to try our Passito white wine, a sweet wine that goes perfectly with dry biscuits or cakes that are not very sweet. And lastly, a Grappa Custoza or Grappa Bardolino Riserva, two pomace distillates of around 40-45% vol.
