Already on the way to the Trecciano Estate a visitor is taken by the splendid beauty of this gentle valley, 16 km south-west of Siena. With it's unique red soil, the surrounding wooded hills protect the valley from adverse climatic influence and cradle the Trecciano property of 22 ha of land. The beautiful medieval villa made of pale grey stone, once housing cloistered nuns, overlooks the ample vineyards and olive groves which are grown with the expertise of a longstanding tradition. Our Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah may find in the soil of the Montagnola Senese the ideal environment to achieve the best expressions of their characteristics. The philosophy of the Trecciano Estate consists of using and valuing the grapes of its own vineyards, with the conviction that the first element of quality resides in the vineyard. The “terroir”, indicating the indissoluble bond between soil, vine and the technical operation of man, is the only possible way which leads to the highest quality. The cellar of Trecciano succeeds in combining perfectly the respect for the antique traditions with the requirements of the modern wine-making technique; therefore the traditional oak barrels and the precious barriques lay side by side with the latest temperature controlled vats and a well equipped bottling plant. Tradition and modern technologies are here combined without any compromise.
