Tenute Ca' Botta

Winery in Valpolicella, Amarone, Valpantena

About the Winery

Located in the heart of the Valpolicella DOC, Tenute Ca’ Botta lies on scenic hills at 500 meters above sea level — one of the highest elevations in the denomination. This unique location, with its calcareous, well-drained soils and ideal microclimate, offers the perfect environment for slow, rich grape maturation. Sunny exposures and cool alpine breezes contribute to the distinctive character of our wines.

The estate covers 20 hectares in Valpolicella and an additional 5 hectares in the Brescia area, dedicated to producing an elegant Riesling. We cultivate only indigenous grape varieties — Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella — staying true to tradition in the production of Valpolicella, Ripasso, and Amarone wines.

Harvesting is done strictly by hand, followed by the time-honored appassimento process, where grapes are dried in our cellar to concentrate flavors, aromas, and structure. Every bottle reflects the terroir and historical quality that make this region world-renowned.

About the Wines

Tenute Ca’ Botta produces elegant hillside wines exclusively from native grapes grown in the estate's own Valpolicella vineyards. Through natural drying in the estate's traditional loft, they create intense, authentic expressions of this high-altitude terroir.

From the winery's 5 hectares in the hills of Brescia comes a fresh, mineral-driven Riesling. This refined white wine showcases aromatic finesse and purity, shaped by the lake-influenced microclimate and mineral-rich soils.

Worth the drive up the hills!
While the drive up to the winery was on twisty and narrow roads, the views were spectacular! Especially from the winery itself. We were hosted by Alexandra, one of the family, and learned so much about their family’s path from Russia to an award winning winery in Italy. She also explained a lot about the grape varieties and their unique processes for creating exquisite wines. We tasted wonderful reds and whites and ended up taking a white and 2 reds away with us. We were also served a generous selection of breads, prosciutto and cheeses, so come hungry!

Fantastic experience
Excellent charcuterie board and excellent wines in this tasting led by Alexander, who was very friendly and great at explaining the history and production of the different wines we tasted. Highly recommended.

Ama...rone
The winery visit and the tasting were very interesting. Definitely Alexander, our guide, was very professional and courteous, he explained to us in a clear and simple way the various types of wine, grape variety, harvest and tasting traditions. The platter of cured meats and cheeses for the pairing was also excellent.
Amarone TOP!
The winery where the tasting took place is located in a hilly area where you can admire a beautiful landscape.
Alexander's suggestion was to come back during the grape drying season. Noted!

What wines!
Alexander welcomed us and presented the wines produced by Ca' Botta, a beautiful experience accompanied by wines decidedly superior to the already very high average of Valpolicella. Thanks a lot and... until next time!
Superb Amaroni and Ripasso, however, their IGTs will also astound you. They are all worth it.
